One of the highlights of the 41st anniversary celebration of Couples for Christ was the first-ever CFC Digital Summit, held at the SMX Convention Center Manila in the afternoon of June 15, 2022. True to its title, “Linked Up: Towards Expansion of the Spirit in Digital Space,” the event focused on maximizing the use of social media to further the work of evangelization. The three main sessions of the summit were interspersed with worship and sharing. Short video clips of David Quiambao, acting as CFC Digital Summit News anchor, tied the sessions together.
Key resource persons for this year’s Digital Summit included Robert Labayen, head of the CFC Multimedia and Events Team, who talked about how CFC, with its myriad of talents, can create influential content for social media and become volunteers of the Truth Army.
CFC International Council member Rabboni Francis “Bong” Arjonillo, the man behind the daily Mass reflection video series Only by Grace Reflections, spoke about social media as an instrument for healing. Ruel Aguirre of the CFC GMC Pastoral Training team, on the other hand, presented social media as an opportunity for authentic personal encounters rather than being a detached medium of communication, citing several messages from Pope Francis on the matter.
In a video presentation, Jimmy Ilagan of the Integrated Evangelization Group presented the new Pastoral Guides on the use of social media as an evangelization tool. Finally, Gerald Manapsal, head of the Digital Journey Team, weaved the entire conference to a powerful statement: for CFC to continue proclaiming the Gospel throughout the digital continent using the tools and language of the present time and change the digital landscape by reclaiming it for God’s mission.
