CFC Chairman/ President Jose Yamamoto and wife Mila Estrada-Yamamoto were awarded with the Paul Dudley White International Scholar Award. This award is given by the American Heart Association to Authors with the Highest Ranked Abstract from the Philippines at Scientific Sessions in 2022.
Both Joe and Mila are physicians. Dr. Joe Yam, as he is fondly called in CFC, is a Thoracic and Cardiovascular surgeon, and is a fellow in several renowned institutions including the Philippine College of Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, the American College of Cardiology and the Philippine Heart Association. He has also been Past President of the Philippine Association of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons (PATACSI). Dra. Mila, on the other hand, practices Internal Medicine and Cardiology, and treats patients at University of Santo Tomas Hospital in Manila. She is also the former chair of the Philippine Heart Association (PHA) Council for Women’s Cardiovascular Health.
