In the Philippines, the month of September is designated to be Family Month. However, it appears to be one of the least appreciated observances at present. Couples for Christ wanted to turn that notion around by actively participating and spearheading activities for the National Family Week celebration during the last week of September.
Last September 27, 2026, CFC, in partnership with the Department or Social Welfare and Development and the National Committee on Filipino Families, enjoined CFC Metro Manila Sectors and Philippine Mission Provinces to conduct renewal of marriage vows rites in their respective areas/parishes during the Sunday Mass. Based on the amount of posts on social media platforms, a large number of couples were able to participate in the activity.
While sacramental marriages are indissoluble and cannot be made even more valid, the renewal of marriage vows allows couples to be reminded of their promise to love and honor one another for life. From that reignition, they allow themselves to be filled with God’s grace to assume their roles as pastors of their families, the domestic church, with renewed vigor.
May this call to actively take part in National Family Week allow more Filipino families to be more cognizant of the importance of celebrating the family and upholding our traditional values.
