CFC Milestones 2011-2015

CFC MILESTONES | 2011

The community was rallied to “Put on the Full Armor of God” (Ephesians 6:11) as a reminder of being part of God’s army, committed to stand together to protect the faith.

Recognizing that after 30 years, the older and newer generations of leaders in the community needed strengthening of their spiritual foundations, CFC began to finalize pastoral programs for the seniors and for those starting their own families.

The Gift of Life Ministry was established in order to provide fullness and relevance to a very important role of the community, which is to promote life. The ministry is primarily involved in responding to pro-life issues that beset society.

The On FIRE Evangelization was set in motion by then CFC Executive Director, Melo Villaroman and was passionately advocated by former CFC Chairman, Ricky Cuenca. Each CFC leader and member was urged to bring to life various elements of CFC community life.

The first-ever ANCOP Global Walk was launched in August 11, 2011. It would be held as an annual event aimed at raising awareness of CFC’s work for the poor programs.

The Build My House campaign was so successful that by the first quarter of 2011, during the community’s 30th anniversary, CFC established its home office, aptly called the Global Mission Center, along 20th Ave. Cubao, Quezon City.

CFC MILESTONES | 2012

The theme “Proclaim the Greatness of the Lord” (Luke 1:46-55) was taken from the Canticle of Mary. CFC looked to Mary’s obedience as the perfect example of discipleship in fulfilling its mission and calling to evangelize.

The year was also when Flame Ministries evolved into Ablaze Communications, CFC’s social communications arm producing world-class products and services that aid in the community’s mission of evangelization.

CFC and the Ateneo Center for Educational Development worked in tandem to launch the pilot Cornerstone, a values-driven, free reading and mentorship program designed to help struggling students in under-resourced public schools. Materials for teaching were provided by the ACED, while CFC fielded volunteers from its family ministries to implement sessions in the public schools.

The community’s love for Mary was reinforced through the theme for the year, which was “Obey and Witness” (John 2:5). As Mary instructed the servants during the wedding at Cana to “Do whatever He tells you”, so did CFC take to heart our Mother’s words to obey Christ’s commands and to actively witness to the wonders of the Lord.

This was also the year when the International Kids Village, the large-scale gathering of members of the Kids for Christ Ministry, was held in Sydney, Australia.

The Global Leaders’ Empowerment Convention (GLEC) sought to unite thrusts and approaches of all CFC global leaders from the different countries. The event aimed to build the core of the CFC leadership, stressing the importance of working as one body, and to rally the team in bringing the programs and thrusts of the community down to every CFC member

CFC MILESTONES | 2014

The theme “Behold and Ponder” (John 19:26-27) continued CFC’s Marian orientation for the third consecutive year. The theme led the community to reflect on its present condition and status, validating its identity as sons and daughters of the Lord. It served as a call for members to establish a deeper relationship with the Lord through the intercession of Mary.

CFC also received an invitation to participate in the Synod of Bishops in October 2014. The Synod gathered 253 men and women representing the Universal Church to discuss and reflect on the theme “Pastoral challenges to the family in the context of evangelization”. Cardinal Tagle, one of the Delegate Presidents of the Synod, Introduced CFC, its Vision and Mission, leadership, and various ministries. He also ended his introduction calling CFC a “gift of the Filipino people to the whole world”.

Another notable event in 2014 was CFC’s consecration the Blessed Mother, entrusting to her its work and its desires to fulfill the mission given by the Lord. On November 2014, the CFC Global Family began its retreat with the aid of the book 33 Days to Morning Glory. CFC was consecrated to Jesus through Mary on December 7, 2014. The following day, Feast of the Immaculate Conc

CFC MILESTONES | 2015

The theme for the year was to “Love More”. This was a challenge for the community to do more, pray more, and suffer more if need be.

On January 15, 2015, Pope Francis arrived in Manila for his Papal visit and spent some time in Manila and in Leyte, which bore the brunt of Typhoon Yolanda. CFC was tasked to serve in various committees for the visit. Members were mobilized to form human barricades lined along streets the Pope would pass, field 300 communications personnel, and provide media volunteers to cover the various events.

It was also an exciting year for Youth for Christ as thy conducted their first global activity outside the Philippines—the Global Leaders Summit. YFC leaders and coordinators from all over the world gathered in Jakarta, Indonesia, from November 6-8 for a series of activities including workshops and sessions that would equip them in nurturing their members.
