Pluma is a video series that unveils the stories of various “ordinary” individuals who made “extraordinary” decisions that enabled them to exude the glory of Christ through these decisions. This series aims to impart the sanctity of the Family, the beauty of Christian Values, the genuine Joy and Humor in our personal journeys, and the flicker of light in our dark struggles.
PLUMA SEASON 1
Episode 1: ANG SIMULA
Love is blind – a classic cliché. In Mackoy and Alma Dimag’s case, it’s literally their motto of love. Mackoy Dimag is a visually impaired janitor working at the Philippine National School of the Blind while Alma is a housewife. He uses his feet to make sure that he was able to clean the school well. Despite Mackoy’s disability, he strives to provide for his family. More than that, he is currently serving as one of Couples for Christ’s unit heads. He believes that instead of dwelling over the fact that he is blind, he uses all his other senses and capabilities in providing for his family, helping other people and serving the Lord.
Episode 2: BATAMPALENGKE
In her attempt of making a difference in this world, Riah Bernardez thought of a feeding, hygiene and education program at Pasig’s public market. She calls this project BATAMPALENGKE. Together with her friends in Singles for Christ, they have been conducting this program of reaching out Christ to these kids for almost 3 years now. They have been raising funds from their own pockets and are envisioning that the program will eventually send kids to school. Riah continues to dream big for BATAMPALENGKE. She sees these kids more than just a personal project but family of her own.
Episode 3: OBRA
Voltz Perez is the first dry leaf painter in the Philippines. His artworks have gone to places like New York and Australia. Once, his entry to an international contest titled “Tomorrow’s Dream” earned the opportunity to be chosen by the United Nations to be printed as one of its official millennium stamps. He is a full-accomplished artist, a loving husband but was not given a chance to be a father because they were not able to have kids. However, this did not stop Voltz and his wife from being grateful and in service to the Lord. They are now taking care of not just one but a whole group of young lay missionaries in CFC Youth for Christ.
Episode 4: LABAN
A Young Couples for Christ member who is newly married, met his wife in Singles for Christ, and faced the struggle of Kidney Cancer. Despite this battle with the disease he continues to persevere and serve the Lord through Couples for Christ. The donor for his transplant was his brother Melvin who has mild autism. We follow his story up to his admission, operation and was able to capture his recovery.
Episode 5: AMA
A Company Driver of Couples for Christ since 2002, Tito Ed is a simple yet passionate servant that gives his utmost in serving the missionaries of Couples for Christ. Beyond being a driver he is a Father to his children, and he was able to take care of them and uplift them despite of their financial incapacities. Despite of their struggles, financially, and his wife’s sudden bout with cancer he is still able to exude joy above everything and share the goodness of Christ to others.
Episode 6: BUHAY ISKOLAR
These are the stories of two ANCOP Scholars who are active in Youth for Christ but also excellent students. As they pursue their dreams and give everything in their studies we would take a close look at their day to day lives and their families. How their families support them despite the economic conditions and how ANCOP helps them in pursuing their dreams while pushing them to become excellent unleashing their full potentials.
Episode 7: KASAMA
Loving parents who were co-founders of the Down Syndrome Association of the Philippines, Inc. because more than understanding their own situation, they want to help out other people who are in the same situation as them. Tony Pasia is a Chapter Head of Forbes Park and is a living witness to the power of God’s grace when he touches people to move despite of varying economic statuses. The episode sees Vickylou, the daughter of Tony and Dottie, when she participated in a Flores de Mayo which featured persons with disability.
Episode 8: PAGIBIG
Ric used to be a drug addict when he was younger. He was so addicted that he tried to commit suicide more than once. He only stopped when he was brought by his mother to Ateneo where he was able to talk to a priest who introduced him to the Lord. He met Libi through the phone call when their offices had to work together. There is a big age difference between Ric and Libi, but it was not a hindrance for them to fall-in-love. At first they had a hard time conceiving a child, but they now have 4 children. Currently they are sector couple coordinator of Youth West B Campus Based.
Episode 9: SINING
Art is natural to the family as Andy and Cha met in the college band where Andy was the drummer and Cha was the violinist. Their eldest children founded “Para sa Sining” an NGO that aims to share Filipino art and culture and their other children are dancers and all of them play musical instruments. The Pinto family lost one of their members after Jizo tried to save one of his friends in an accident during an out of town trip. Couples for Christ was a great help for the family to be able to accept what happened and to move on.
Episode 10: BAYANI
Willy is a Major General of the Armed Forces of the Philippines retired, who has served the military for almost 37 years. He is married to Imee and their marriage and family life was challenged by the amount of time that it was necessary for Willy to leave for his mission. But joining Couples for Christ helped them understand each other’s mission in life. Willy had undergone a bypass last year after he suffered a heart attack. Currently, they are serving in the Order of St. Michael program of the Social Development Programs of CFC where they give character enhancement program where they inspire uniformed personal to not only have courage but more importantly have faith regardless of their religion.
Episode 11: PAGBABAGO
Michael and Amy used to be drug dependents; they even used drugs in front of their children. Their turning point was when their son asked them if for how long they are going to continue to use drugs. They started to live a better life and joined Couples for Christ. After which, they were able to evangelize other drug dependents in their community to change and be members of CFC as well. Currently, Michael is a lay minister in their parish.
Episode 12: MULA SIMULA
Manny is a member of the CFC International Council and one of the first members of Couples for Christ. The story of Tito Manny is not his alone, as his life and service reflects the growth and blessings of the Couples for Christ Community. As his story is explored, the same way that the story of Couples for Christ unfolded. Their story involved the struggle of being away from their family in times of struggles like during the typhoon “Ondoy” because of their mission. Their family also went through struggle when their daughter was kidnapped. But they remained faithful to the Lord and their service and were able to start CFC in other provinces and countries.
