CFC MILESTONES | 1981

In 1981, Ligaya ng Panginoon envisioned Couples for Christ as an outreach dedicated to family life. On June 16, 1981, the first sixteen couples made their commitment to Couples for Christ, marking the humble beginning of what would become a growing community of family evangelizers, moved by the Holy Spirit.
CFC MILESTONES | 1982

The first parish-based Couples for Christ groups were in Las Piñas, upon the invitation of Fr. Mark Lesage of St. Joseph Parish, the home of the famed Bamboo Organ, and in United Parañaque, upon the invitation of then Msgr. and now Bishop Jesse Mercado.
CFC MILESTONES | 1983

In two years, CFC had grown into a sizable community. Advisers from Ligaya ng Panginoon urged the registration of CFC as a non-stock, non-profit organization at the Securities and Exchange Commission under the name Couples for Christ Foundation, Inc (CFCFI). The Ugnayan, a bi-monthly newsletter, was published to address the need for a communications medium to link the members and keep them updated with the developments in the community.
CFC MILESTONES | 1984

CFC was established for the first time outside of Metro Manila. The work of the Lord through Couples for Christ was felt through the establishment of the Malaybalay Chapter in Bukidnon with 53 couples.
CFC MILESTONES | 1985

In September of 1985, Nina Ponte shared the prophetic message, “”Couples for Christ will win the world for Christ!”” That year, CFC only had 500-couple members and was present in only one province (Bukidnon) and one country (India) so this prophecy was radical and bold. Yet CFC took God’s words to heart and waited for the Spirit to manifest its leadings.
Stay tuned as we continue to share our story—our history, growth, and God’s faithfulness—as we journey toward our 45th year as one family.
